Privacy, as a promise
I collect as little as I can to run the product. I do not sell data. I do not share it with advertising networks or data brokers. I do not put trackers on the child’s screens.
What I collect
- Your email, so you can sign in with a link. The account is a parent account.
- A child nickname, if you choose to give one. It can be as short as “Child”. I do not ask for a date of birth, a photo, or a real legal name.
- A type preference (ordinary text or OpenDyslexic).
- Which stories were finished, so a quiet picture on the child’s home screen can gain a small new detail. I do not record taps, drop-off, or how long someone stared at a sentence.
- Payment state, if you subscribe: which plan, whether it is active, and when the period ends.
I do not collect location, device advertising identifiers, or browsing habits. There is no product analytics suite. There are no third-party scripts on the child’s story screens.
Who else sees anything
Two services are necessary to run the product:
- Resend sends the sign-in email, and a receipt if you pay. Transactional mail only. No marketing list.
- Stripe processes payment if you subscribe. Card details go to Stripe, not to me.
The marketing website is a separate service. It has no login and no database. Visiting these pages does not create an account.
Cancellation
From the app: Account → Cancel subscription → Confirm. Three taps. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. There is no retention maze and no guilt copy.
Deleting your account
From Account, you can delete the account. That removes your login, the child nickname, story-completion records, and subscription rows I hold. Stripe is told to cancel any paid subscription. Sign-in emails already sent cannot be unsent; they expire on their own.
A short legal note
This page is the promise in ordinary language. It is not a substitute for a lawyer’s review. FableLoom is intended for use by a parent, with a child nearby. Children are not asked to create accounts. If you are in the UK or EU, you can write to the email on your sign-in link’s sender address to ask what is stored, or to ask for deletion if you cannot reach the in-app control.
I will not use a child’s nickname in logs I can help. Server errors are for fixing the app, not for profiling a family.
